NERDY BLACK KIDS CLUBS
Thursdays are for NBK!
Starting in January 2020, we will be hosting our NBK Club Meetups on Thursday evenings on the following schedule:
- Nerdy Black Gamers Team: 1st Thursdays
- Nerdy Black Gamers Club: 3rd Thursdays
- NBK Comic Book and Manga Club: 4th Thursdays
In Summer and Fall of 2019, our Nerdy Black Gamers Team members trained with professional E-Sports coaches and entered their first tournament. This year, we will work with our friends at Gamers Xperience in Lithonia and VS Realm E-Sports Arena in Decatur, as well as some other gaming clubs and organizations, to enter our gamers in many more tournaments. We’ll also be planning to attend a few E-Sports tournaments and events in other cities.
Our Nerdy Black Gamers Club decided to launch a Twitch stream in 2020. We’ll be hosting some workshops on Twitch, live streaming, and more and preparing to launch an NBK stream!
The Comic Book and Manga Club began working with Charla Johnson of the Black Astronauts Podcast to learn about podcasting. This year we will be working to launch our very own podcast!
MEMBERSHIP
Thank you to everyone who has become a member of Nerdy Black Kids thus far!
We have updated our membership structure to make NBK more sustainable, and to make payment much easier. Changes will be as follows:
- Gaming Club membership will increase to $15/month.
- Gaming Team membership will increase to $25/month.
- Comic Book and Manga Club will have a membership fee of $10/month.
- There will be a $5 discount when you join a 2nd club.
- There will be a 20% discount for siblings.
- Potential members can attend one meeting for free before deciding to join.
In addition to these changes, members will be able to enroll in auto-payment through our website so that membership fees can be automatically drafted each month.
